SUPPORT ENGINEER

Summary of Role
As a Support Engineer at Tulaa, you will be responsible for all IT, Software and Product support at Tulaa. This includes bearing the responsibility for maintaining the Office IT and Call Centre Telephony Infrastructure and Networking Components (Laptop, Phones, Servers, Routers, Networking and Security equipment) as well as troubleshooting and resolving technical issues within within those components of systems, such as software, hardware, and other network-related IT related problems. Key Role and Responsibilities

  • Install and configure computer applications, Operating Systems,
  • In collaboration with Product & Engineering, support the Software Release Cycle by formulating a training plan for newly released software products / features for in-office and field users.
  • Work closely with Product to ensure the successful adoption of just-released Software by utilizing tools such as Firebase and Analytics on PlayStore to monitor app health and issues reported by such tools.
  • First point of contact for support calls from field agents concerning their Tulaa app use and associated devices.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues relating to in-office and field staff computer systems; Laptops, Phones, Servers, Routers, Networking and Security equipment.


About You
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or another related discipline is required.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with foundational and working knowledge in working with different operating systems (Windows, Linux or Mac OS), an extensive understanding of computer systems, networks, mobile devices, and other technological equipment, along with expertise in LAN/WAN/MAN, and knowledge of scripting languages such as SQL, PHP and Python, among others.
  • Must have a strong customer focus, be able to multi-task and collaborate as well as be able to quickly grasp technical knowledge of Tulaa’s products or services.
  • Immaculate attention to detail and dedication to coherency
  • Cope with pressure and extensive periods of high workload. Remains calm under pressure, while still being able to manage priorities and tasks

Key Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve/exceed sales targets and to expand Tulaa’s customer base
  • In close collaboration with the business heads (Inputs, Credit and Market Linkage), set and manage to weekly work plans and targets for field staff and agents
  • Take full responsibility for your performance and that of your team by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, providing timely and clear feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly and directly
  • Responsible for all recruitment, on-boarding, training, management, and off-boarding of all sales staff and agents

About You
  • At least 7 years of experience in sales with a proven track record of exceeding targets in a senior sales role, preferably in rural markets in Kenya
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics or a related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • Proven ability to get groups to work together effectively

Head of MARKET LINKAGE

Summary of Role
The Head of Market Linkage will be responsible for all aspects of the design, development and execution of our strategy to link farmers to traders in the informal market. S/he will be responsible for refining our market linkage strategy using data from market tests and achieve proof of concept prior to scaling the solution. We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, likes to get their boots muddy, thrives on creating order from chaos, and is motivated to join an early stage start-up with huge potential for growth.

We build and deploy technology to level the playing field for agricultural buyers and sellers by lowering the cost and risk of transacting with smallholder farmers. Key Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary and secondary research to better understand the current and potential value chains for Tulaa, especially as related to market access, and on similar models in Kenya and other markets that can inform Tulaa’s brokerage strategy
  • Establish and monitor clear, well-aligned and measurable KPIs for the market linkage model
  • Execute the test of the brokerage model, including but not limited to:
      Recruitment and training to Tulaa Certified Brokers (TCB)
      Training of Field Officers to serve as brokers
      Educating farmers on the role of TCBs
      Securing commitments from farmers to sell through TCBs if offered input loans
      Ensuring compliance with trade terms by all TCBs, including but not limited to standards weights and measures for sales, price transparency, etc.
      Work closely with Product & Engineering to ensure the features and functionality of the minimum viable product are ready to be shipped in time for the season
      Ensuring timely and accurate payment by traders to Tulaa, and by Tulaa to the broker and the farmer (less the loan amount)
  • Develop and execute a plan to capture lessons learned and to transform them into improvements to our strategy and/or operations related to market linkage
  • Provide support with economic feasibility analysis for the brokerage solution, including but not limited to assessing customer acquisition costs, determining pricing for Tulaa’s commission, establishing effective incentives for TCBs, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with the Input Sales and Distribution Manager to ensure that both sides of the platform are linked and well-coordinated
  • Proactively communicate internally and externally about Tulaa’s brokerage model as it evolves
  • Contribute to raising the bar across the company in terms of performance, reliability, emotional intelligence and grit


About You
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably advance degree, in business or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in sales in the agriculture sector

  • Passion for poverty alleviation and/or using technology for good
